Teamwork
Makes the

dream work

It feels good to get on the right path. Let me help you implement the strategies to get you there!
Here are just a few examples of some of my results.
Teamwork
  • Improved month-end close process to 6 business days (down from 14 previously) with details down to the transactional level for up to 35 organizations/departments. Timely results highlight “standouts” to Executive Management Team for management adjustments and/or recognition.

  • An awareness of the market and stronger negotiations resulted in reductions in operating expenses, e.g. 38% reduction in insurance premiums through challenging broker to be more aggressive.

  • Partnering with Insurance Broker to look at coverage for multiple organizations differently resulted in more robust coverage and premium reduction of 10% overall.

  • Collaborated on re-structuring a long-standing worker’s comp incentive program.  Design of a new metrics provided more transparency, fueled awareness and resulted in a reduction in claims and prioritizing closing of open claims decreasing WC modifiers and premiums by over 25% in 3 years (margin increase).

  • Monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and delivery of GAAP annual work papers and financials (including eliminations and consolidating entries) with consistent audit results having no adjustments under my supervision. The comprehensive work papers that were provided annually resulted in approximately 25% decrease in cost of annual review and tax preparation.

  • Developed a cross-functional team to understand and interpret information.  Identified opportunities and designed solutions within the accounting department which allowed for scalability.   While adding two organizations and having revenue increase over 32% , efficiencies allowed the accounting/finance team to absorb the growth with the core team that had been maintained after the economic downturn (headcount that decreased by 4 down from 11 to 7). Teams that had operated with more of a silo mindset became collaborative and tasks were more aligned with the skillsets which helped achieve optimal solutions and gain efficiencies.

  • Elected current Board Member FEI (Financial Executives Int’l) Nashville Chapter.  Board Member FEI  Portland Chapter (04.2016-07.2020)

  • Co-recipient of a Big 5 accounting firm's Best Practices Award in Oregon for “Unleashing the Power of Technology”; an award recognizing creative thinking in the automation of financial reporting.
